Paperwork and data

  • V5C logbook in the seller's name at the address you are visiting.
  • VIN on the vehicle matches the V5C.
  • History check clear of stolen, finance and write-off markers.
  • MOT history with consistent mileage and no serious recurring advisories.
  • Service history and a recent habitation service certificate.

The physical inspection

  • Damp: corners, windows, roof lights, under seating and the floor. Use a damp meter if you can.
  • Habitation: fridge, heating, hob, water pump, lights and sockets all working.
  • Tyres: tread and, crucially, age (motorhome tyres perish before they wear out).
  • Engine, brakes and a test drive.
  • Bodywork, seams and roof for signs of leaks or repairs.
