What a full check covers

  • Stolen check against the police database.
  • Outstanding finance still owed to a lender.
  • Insurance write-off category (A, B, S or N).
  • Mileage history from MOT records, with clocking detection.
  • Plate and keeper changes, plus import, export and scrapped markers.

Why it matters

Buy a motorhome with outstanding finance and the lender can repossess it, even after you have paid the seller. Buy a written-off one unknowingly and it is worth far less than you paid. A £9.99 check is cheap insurance against a five-figure mistake.

Touring caravans are different

Touring caravans have no registration plate and no DVLA record, so a motorhome-style check does not apply. For a tourer, use the CRiS register instead. See motorhome vs caravan checks.
