What Bailey owners report, brand-wide

The Alu-Tech body sits on a timber-cored floor

Bailey's Alu-Tech system bonds aluminium-framed panels with, as the company puts it, "a significant reduction in the number of external joints and fixing points". Practical Motorhome's used guide to the Autograph (21 October 2022) adds the caveat owners repeat: "the floor has a timber core, so do check it for high moisture levels." A MotorhomeFun member explained (4 February 2023) that the "body sits on a plywood floor. If leaks come from above...water creeps into the plywood". Most Bailey damp reports are therefore about floors and the lowest few inches of wall rather than roof panels.

Damp floors on early (2012 to 2014) Approach vans

A 2012 Approach 740 owner (Wild Camping, 7 May 2022) found "wet and spongy floor behind nearside wheel arch" and wrote that "In 2012 they seemed to have issues with sealing the sides to the floor all over the vehicle"; another member's damp repair to a habitation dining area had cost "£2,100 plus 20% vat". A 740SE owner (21 March 2024) read "about 25 or so" under the bed behind the wheel arch after a wet winter. In a buyer thread of 22 November 2023 one member said "Check for damp the earlier ones have had damp floors"; another, on a 2014 Approach 745, said 2014 was "early" for Bailey and there were known failures with "corners of the floor not having the plastic damp sheets applied correctly"; a third had seen "80% damp across the back on one and 60% damp across the back and down one side" on two Bailey vans, one new and one six months old.

Creaking floors

A new Autograph 79-4i owner (MotorhomeFun, 24 July 2021) described a raised living-area floor that "creaks like mad when you walk on it" and said "the issue with the floor is a known one for Bailey vans apparently", alongside broken roof blinds, loose chair arms and "silicon literally EVERYWHERE". An Approach 765 owner replied that his van "went back several times to be fixed along with a load of other problems".

Drop-down beds, rooflights and the front skylight

A 79-6 owner (22 March 2024) had an overcab skylight that "leaked due to a poorly fitted seal", fixed under warranty, and a drop-down bed ladder that "pops off with our weight". In an Adamo 69-4 thread (4 February 2023) a member summarised reviews: the "front sky light is a weak point and some reviews talk about the 'Bailey whistle'", and the "drop down bed is often mentioned as a weak point, and often needs a repairing". On the 2015 to 2018 DreamSleep mattress system one owner paid "£1600 for the conventional upholstery" after Bailey "wouldnt replace under warranty" (25 November 2023).

Snagging and build quality on new vans

A brand-new 2017 Autograph 794 was described by its owner as "a absolute nightmare 56 faults x3 reseals" (23 March 2024), from a damp floor to a habitation door that would not open. A 2020 Autograph owner (26 November 2024) kept the parts that "had fallen off or broke" in a bag and found the water tank "registered empty" when full; he sold after 12 months. A 79-4T owner (5 February 2023): "general overall build quality is pretty poor in my view". A 22-plate Autograph had exterior decals "peeling off" and on the warranty list (23 November 2023). On Trustpilot, a 2025 Adamo XL-T owner (11 December 2025) wrote "Terrible build quality on 2025 adamo" with the van in repair for five months, and another (28 November 2025) rejected a second Adamo after five hours. Bailey's Trustpilot score on the day was 3.1 from 502 reviews, most of them about caravans.

Water gauges, tank heaters and wiring on a 2015 Approach

One owner's blog (baileyapproach.wordpress.com, April to October 2015) recorded tank heaters that did not work, a heating pipe leaking antifreeze under the couch, "birds nest wiring" in the battery compartment with poor crimping, a tank gauge reading 100% when not full and a control panel reading 0% that would not let the pump run, and a tap leaking from pinholes in its weld. It is one hostile owner's account; we include it because it is specific and dated.

Rear axle loading

A 2015 Autograph 740 owner (25 November 2023) found the rear axle "too close for comfort" and unworkable fully laden, and fitted a suspension upgrade. Payload is worth checking on any long Bailey: see can I drive this motorhome on my licence.

By range

Approach and Approach Autograph (2011 to 2015)

The floor sealing and damp-sheet reports above sit here. A 2015 thread on a new Approach Autograph listed a leaking shower, a jamming door lock, a loose window frame, a collapsing bed, a soft patch at the floor edge, a warping wardrobe door and uneven heating (19 February 2015); a 2014 owner in the same thread had "Only" a missed bead of shower sealant. Practical Motorhome's 2016 guide to the Approach SE 760 notes the aluminium superstructure fixings "should have had regular checks by a Bailey-approved agent", and its 2019 Approach guide records that Bailey "has always offered extended warranties (up to 10 years) for body integrity".

Autograph (2015 on: 69-2, 75-4, 79-4, 79-6, 794)

The 56-fault 794, the creaking 79-4i floor, the 79-6 skylight and ladder, the 2020 van with parts in a bag, the peeling decals and the 79-4T build-quality comment are all above. A 2019 Autograph 75-4 owner reported "A number of issues but nothing major" (25 November 2024). Bailey's June 2026 ISOFIX recall covers Autograph IV 794F, 794T, 794i and 815 vans and the 794XT (table below).

Adamo (2021 on: 69-4, 75-4DL, 75-4T, XL-T, XL-DL)

A 2024 Adamo 75-4DL (25 November 2024): a poorly fitting washroom door, a stiff overcab blind, a small leak under the basin, a Truma panel that loses its settings off mains and a Seattle water-gauge panel with problems. A 2023 75-4T: skirt trims cut "like an apprentice cut them", poor internal carpentry, lifted shower flooring, a failed washroom catch and a resealed overcab vent. A three-year-old 69-4 owner warned that leaving the bed up for long periods can grow mould, but was "pleased with it"; a 2024 69-4 owner said it was "not been perfect" but needed only minor adjustment. Practical Motorhome's 2024 review of the 75-4I criticised only the layout (island bed against the sliding door). The Adamo XL-DL is in the 2026 ISOFIX recall.

Alora, Endeavour and Endurance (2024 on)

Trustpilot: an Alora owner (16 June 2026) said a roof repair on a £70k van had taken eight months; an Endeavour B62 owner (7 January 2026) found the standard AGM leisure battery lasted two to three hours of heating off-grid; Endurance buyers reported long delivery waits (13 September 2025) and a cancelled U-shaped lounge option (2 September 2026). Endeavour B65 and Endurance E65 vans are in the 2026 ISOFIX recall.

Advance and Alliance

No owner report naming an Advance or Alliance motorhome was found on any page we could open, so nothing is claimed about them.

Bailey recalls on the DVSA register

DVSA lists BAILEY OF BRISTOL as a make. In the full recalls file downloaded on 15 September 2026 there are four campaigns; two are caravans (2011 Unicorn wheel, 2019 Pursuit sunroof) and one is a motorhome campaign. No Bailey recall concerns Alu-Tech, damp or water ingress.

What Bailey says: warranty and servicing

Bailey's coachbuilt motorhome warranty document (dated 6 September 2023, read 15 September 2026) gives a three-year base vehicle warranty from Ford or Peugeot, a three-year Bailey manufacturer's warranty on components (extendable by three years) and a six-year Bodyshell Integrity Warranty covering "any defect with the habitation bodyshell in relation to water ingress", extendable by four years to ten. It is "a condition of the warranty that an annual service is performed", including "a full annual habitation service and inspection, including a moisture survey" by an Authorised Bailey Service Centre or an NCC Approved Workshop member, within six weeks either side of the anniversary for non-first services. Bailey's site has no recall or service bulletin page; its warranties page says only that the van must be "serviced annually from new".

MOT pass rates: why this page does not give one

Other sites quote pass rates for converter brands. We checked the DVSA anonymised MOT open data documentation on 15 September 2026: the make and model fields are taken from the DVSA vehicle dataset, there is no converter field and no make lookup table, and the guide does not say whether a coachbuilt motorhome appears under the converter or the base vehicle. Until that is settled, any Bailey pass rate is a guess, so we leave it out. Before you buy a Bailey: checklist

1. Meter the floor edges and the bottom 100 mm of wall on every side, from inside and underneath, with extra attention behind the wheel arches and at the four floor corners on 2012 to 2015 Approach vans.
2. Walk the raised floor area and listen for creaks; ask whether the floor has ever been repaired and see the invoice.
3. Ask for every annual habitation report with moisture readings: Bailey's warranty needs one each year and it names the moisture survey specifically.
4. Open and close the front skylight and overcab skylight; look for staining. Lower and raise the drop-down bed several times and check the ladder fixings.
5. Fill the fresh tank and watch the gauge; run the pump and the Truma or Whale heating on gas and mains.
6. Check the rear axle plated weight against the actual weight with your kit aboard; long Autographs have been reported close to the limit.
7. On a 2025 to 2026 Adamo XL-DL, Autograph IV 794/815, Endeavour B65 or Endurance E65, get proof the ISOFIX recall (R/2026/259) has been done.
8. Run the £4.99 history check on the registration before a deposit.

Whatever the brand, the paperwork side is the same: the vehicle is UK-registered, so a motorhome history check (£4.99) shows stolen, finance, write-off, mileage, plate and keeper records from Experian AutoCheck, DVLA and DVSA.
